WHY MUSASHI?
Miyamoto Musashi (c. 1584–1645) was a renowned Japanese swordsman, strategist, and artist. Near the end of his life, while living in the Reigandō cave, he authored Go Rin no Sho (The Book of Five Rings). Originally written as a treatise on his specific school of swordsmanship (Niten Ichi-ryū), the text has endured because its principles transcend physical combat.
Today, individuals across various disciplines study Musashi's writings for their profound insights on timing, adaptability, discipline, and perception. However, the line between historical source material and modern interpretation frequently blurs.
The Musashi Way seeks to provide independent research, careful commentary, and contextualised exploration of these concepts. We aim to clearly distinguish between what Musashi wrote, how it has been interpreted by scholars, and how it might be applied today.
